ST. PAUL, Minn. (Duhawks.com) - The No. 22 Loras men's soccer team saw it's season come to a close after a 1-nil loss to No. 4 St. Thomas in the Second Round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament. Senior Jacob Peterson recorded four saves, including three down the stretch and kept the Duhawks within striking distance.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
-Loras applied early pressure to the Tommie defense, recording four shots in the first seven minutes of regulation, but failed to convert
In the ninth minute, a St. Thomas center back played a long ball over the Duhawks' back line and into the box where Peterson was whistled for the foul … The Tommies converted from the spot to take the 1-0 lead
-Loras responded with a pair of shots in the next five minutes, both of which missed wide left
-The Duhawks outshot St. Thomas 10-3 in the first half, but only managed two shots on target
-In the second half, the Tommies cleaned up their defense and held Loras to one shot attempt in the first 15 minutes
-Pressing for a goal, the Duhawks put everything they could into the final third but couldn't break through for an equalizer
-Peterson made three saves down the stretch to deny St. Thomas an insurance goal on the breakaway

NOTABLES
-Sunday's loss snapped an 11-match unbeaten streak, dating back to Sept. 30 … During that streak, Loras outscored opponents 31-8
-Sunday was the second time all season that the Duhawks were shutout
-Loras' record in the NCAA Tournament is now 26-11-3 in 12 appearances
