Men's Basketball Falls to Falcons

MEQUON, Wis (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's basketball team dropped to 2-1 on the young season on Tuesday, falling to Concordia Wisconsin on the road, 101-86. Junior Josh Ruggles led the Duhawks with 27 points on the night while junior Ryan DiCanio chipped in 22.

SERIES NOTABLES
• The Falcons evened the series at one game each after Loras won the original meeting last season

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• In his first career start, freshman Rowan McGowan gave the Duhawks an early five-point lead when the Wheaton, Ill. native converted an and-1 opportunity for a three-point play 
• The Falcons created their largest lead up until that point of the night after converting on two Loras turnovers in a span of two minutes to take the lead at 28-25
• With under four minutes remaining in the first half, Concordia Wisconsin strung together three straight layups for a 9-2 run to take a 45-37 lead
• A jumper from the Falcons at 10:21 created the biggest point spread of the game at 77-57
• With under three minutes remaining in regulation, Ruggles pulled Loras within eight after a three-point play

TEAM NOTABLES
• The Duhawks out-rebounded the Falcons 46-26 with half of their rebounds coming on the offensive side of the ball … Loras failed to take advantage of the vast discrepancy, settling for 11 second chance points
• Defensively, the Falcons turned 18 Duhawk turnovers into 28 points and held an 18-4 advantage on fast break points

• Ruggles' 27 points were the highest of all scorers in Tuesday's loss. 
• For the second game in-a-row, DiCanio has recorded over 20 points after his 22-point performance on Tuesday
• Redshirt freshman David Wedewer made his Loras debut on Tuesday, collecting one rebound and one assist in seven minutes
• Freshman Dimitric Young made his collegiate debut late in the second half
