No. 19 Women's Soccer Punches Ticket to NCAA Tournament

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The 19th-ranked Loras women's soccer team completed the Iowa Conference double, claiming the tournament championship on Saturday with a 4-1 decision over Luther. Junior Elizabeth Mills netted the fifth brace of her career while senior Molly Stanfa tallied the match-winner in the 14th minute.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
-Junior Elizabeth Mills added her team-leading 11th goal of the season in the eighth minute, finishing off a throw-in sequence started by senior Gretchen Schutz and helped along by senior Lauren Bolnius
-Seven minutes later, senior Molly Stanfa connected on a long shot in the middle of the pitch for her third goal of the season … Stanfa's shot was aided by the save attempt as it was pushed up into the top corner
-Mills found the back of the net for the second time in the 23rd minute, coming from six yards out it was her 12th of the season … Senior Maura Walsh assisted Mills on the goal
-Two minutes later, Luther connected on a free kick and cut into Loras' lead after tapping home the loose ball
-In the 67th minute, Walsh added to her point total, slotting home a rebound off the shot from Schutz
-The Duhawk defense dominated the second half of play, they kept Luther in check, not allowing a shot the entire half

-The Loras earns a trip to the NCAA Tournament for the 13th time in program history and in consecutive seasons
-After defeating Luther today, this is the first IIAC Tournament Championship for the Duhawks since 2013, when they defeated Dubuque, 2-nil
-Mills doubled her goal total from her a season ago and now has 58 points in her career
-Senior Maura Walsh added to her Duhawk career today as she knocked home her ninth goal of the season and seventh assist of the season … The Lemont, Ill. native now has 25 points on the season and 58 in her career

FRIEDMAN GROUP PLAYER OF THE GAME - ELIZABETH MILLS
The Brimfield native tallied six shots in the match, three of which coming on goal, while she knocked home her 11th and 12th goals of the season, pushing her career high point total for the season to 31. Mills now has 21 career goals and 58 career points as a Duhawk.

Loras awaits their destination from the NCAA Committee, which will be announced on Monday's NCAA Selection Show at 12 p.m. Fans can join the team in the Pub on campus for a viewing party beginning at 11:30 a.m.
