DECORAH, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The 25th-ranked Loras men's soccer team advanced to the 2017 NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday, earning a 2-2 draw against Luther before advancing on penalties, 3-1. Senior
Jacob Peterson made nine saves in total, including two in the penalty kick shootout.

-Minutes after the first yellow was shown to Luther, sophomore

Spencer Moore inside the box who finished with a low shot to the corner to open the scoring with his third of the season
-Loras received its first yellow in the 19th minute and immediately following the card, Luther equalized directly in front of goal
-Peterson stood tall and made a monstrous save in the 39th minute to keep the sides level at 1-all
-In the 65th minute, Moore drew a foul outside the box and on the ensuing free kick, freshman

-The lead for the Duhawks was short-lived as the Norse connected on a free kick of their own in the 71st to knot the match at 2-all

Tigrio Huerta broke free and sent a curling shot towards goal that missed wide
-Luther was responsible for both of the shots in the first period of extra time, with one blocked and the last missing wide
-Loras regained its footing in the second period of extra time and recorded three shots in the first three minutes, with two of them blocked and resulting in corner kicks

Ike Bruns all converted from the spot while Peterson stopped the first and third attempts by Luther
-Needing a goal to extend the shootout, Luther's fourth attempt sailed high

-Loras claims its eighth Iowa Conference Tournament Championship and advances to its 12th NCAA Tournament
-Peterson's seven saves on Saturday moved the senior to 84 this season and brings his career total to 217
