DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's basketball team saw their six-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday in a 88-83 loss to No. 12/14 Wartburg. Junior
Lauren Stanich lead the way for the Duhawks, scoring a career-high 30 points, the most by a Duhawk this year, while adding four assists.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
First Quarter
- The Duhawks converted an offensive board from junior Cyerra Hutchins into a 3-pointer by junior Miranda Chapman to give Loras an early 6-3 lead.
- Wartburg came alive midway through the half, going on a 13-5 run after shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor for a 16-13 lead.
Second Quarter
- A pair of 3-pointers from Stanich and Chapman in less than 90 seconds tied the game at 33-all with 6:22 remaining in the quarter.
- Loras and the Knights battled back-and-forth for points for the remainder of the half, with Wartburg using a 9-4 run to take a 42-37 lead into halftime.
Third Quarter
- The Duhawks converted two Knight turnovers into free-throw opportunities, as Wartburg sent senior Terese McMahon and Hutchins to the line where they converted each of their four chances to pull Loras to within two at 45-43.
- Five-straight points from Stanich tied the game for Loras at 50 with 4:43 remaining in the quarter.
Fourth Quarter
- A 6-2 run for the Duhawks cut the Wartburg lead to two at 65-63 after three points from Hutchins and a three from Stanich.
- Wartburg solidified their win with a 11-2 run that pulled them ahead of Loras for good at 76-65.

Lauren Stanich | The junior scored a career-high 30 points, the most by a Duhawk this season. Stanich shot 11-for-17 from the floor while going 5-of-9 from beyond-the-arc. The Pleasant Prairie, Wis. native has now scored in double-digits in six of her last seven games.
