Duhawks Fly Past Dutch

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - On Wednesday evening, the Loras women's basketball team completed the season-sweep of Central after a 80-51 victory. The Duhawks were paced by a well-balanced offense with six different Duhawks scoring double-digits points on the night led by senior Lori Obendorf with 15.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
First Quarter
  • The Duhawks jumped out to a 4-2 lead with all four of Loras' points coming from senior Terese McMahon
  • A jumper in paint from senior Erin Weaver put the Duhawks ahead 12-10 with three minutes remaining in the quarter. 

Second Quarter
  • A steal by junior Lauren Stanich led to two points on the fast break from junior Cyerra Hutchins which forced Central to use their second timeout of the half. 
  • Junior Miranda Chapman hit a 3-pointer late in the quarter to give Loras a 10-point lead. The Duhawks finished the half on a 6-0 run, extending their lead to 12 points.  

Third Quarter 
  • Loras opened up the second half with an 8-0 run with four points coming from Obendorf in two minutes of play.
  • After a 6-0 Central run halfway through the quarter, the Duhawks put together a 7-0 run, resulting in an 18-point Loras lead. 
  • Junior Miranda Chapman's offensive rebound and put-back at the buzzer ended the quarter with the Duhawks ahead 60-35.

Fourth Quarter
  • Both Loras and Central exchanged points throughout majority of the quarter. 
  • Junior Kate Moriarty joined the scoring for the Duhawks with a layup on an assist by freshman Macenzie Kraemer to stretch the Duhawk lead back to 25.
  • Loras held firmly onto its lead, claiming victory, 80-51.

NOTABLES
  • Eight points from junior Addie Oberman highlighted a 19-2 Duhawk run starting with three minutes remaining in the third quarter until the second minute of the fourth
  • Loras recorded 12 steals in their win over Central, which ties for the most this season
  • Six Duhawks finished night with double-digit scoring efforts, the most from Loras this season

The senior collected her seventh-straight double-digit scoring effort in Loras' win over Central. Obendorf finished the game with 15 total points while adding seven rebounds.
