DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - Returning to the comforts of home after nearly three weeks on the road, the Loras men's volleyball team defeated Adrian on Friday night, winning in straight sets (25-13, 25-20, 25-14). As a team, the Duhawks hit a blistering .424 in the match, setting the single-match program record in the process. Individually, Loras was led by sophomores
Greg Kinney and
Leo Peters, who combined for 15 kills in the match.
MOMENTS THAT MATTEREDÂ
Set One
- The Duhawks got off to a fast start to begin the match, establishing a 7-3 advantage after back-to-back kills from junior Dylan Ross.
- An ace from junior Danny Krasich extended the Loras lead to seven, opening a 17-9 lead.
- With the Duhawks in command, Loras cruised to the finish line, taking set one by a decisive 25-13 final.Â
Set Two
- Both sides were knotted at 12-all when consecutive blocks from sophomore Austin Kuchenbecker prompted a Bulldog timeout.
- After the break in action, the Duhawks continued to push tempo and build the lead, using a run of three more tallies capped by a Kuchenbecker kill to take control of the frame, leading 17-12.
- The rest of the way was even keel, with each team scoring eight points as Loras took the win, 25-20.
Set Three
- Back-to-back tone-setting kills from sophomore Leo Peters put the Duhawks in the driver's seat in the final frame with a commanding 13-6 lead.
- Loras kept its foot on the gas pedal and delivered the knockout punch, winning the final set, 25-14.

- Loras improves to to 8-11 overall and 5-9 in MCVL play and is currently fifth in the MCVL Western Division
- In his first start at libero in 2017, junior Blair Anderson finished with 10 kills
- With the win, the Duhawks improve to 6-2 at home
