AUBURNDALE, Fla. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras baseball team fell to 4-6 on the year after a 5-3 loss to Knox on Sunday. Sophomore
Danny Paluch went 3-for-4 with a two RBI triple in a three-run eighth inning for the Duhawks.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
- It took until the top of the fourth before either team managed to score as Knox opened with an RBI single by Kam Wells.
- The Prairie Fire extended their lead to three after a pair of runs in the fifth.
- In his second start of the season, junior Pat Moriarty threw six innings while striking out seven.
- After being held scoreless through seven innings, the Duhawk offense broke out and tallied three runs in the bottom of the eighth. Paluch's two-RBI triple brought Loras to within one before junior Michael Muto drove in the equalizer on an RBI single.
- After two quick outs to start the ninth, the Prairie Fire scored regained the lead with a pair of RBI base hits to take the 5-3 lead.
- Needing a second late rally in as many days, Loras went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the ninth, falling to 4-6 this season.

- Junior Danny Weis extended his hitting streak to nine games in his first at-bat in the bottom of the second
- Loras' struggles with runners on base continued as the Duhawks stranded eight runners in the game
- Muto increased his RBI total to 13, which leads the team
- With another RBI, Muto now has 13 RBIs on the season which is a team best for the Duhawks
- Loras falls to 2-3 in the RussMatt Invitational with two games remaining

Danny Paluch | The sophomore from Chicago sparked the Duhawks' comeback in the bottom of the eighth with a two-RBI triple and later scoring the game-tying run. Paluch raised his batting average to .324 and has six extra-base hits.Â

The Duhawks spring trip concludes on Monday with a doubleheader against Hope at Chain of Lakes Park. The Dutchmen improved to 5-0 this season after sweeping Thomas in a doubleheader last time out.
