DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's lacrosse team fell to 5-7 on the season after a non-conference road loss to Dubuque. Sophomore
Molly Dougherty led the Duhawks on the night with two goals, two draw controls and two ground balls.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
First Half
- Dubuque came out in the first half swinging, with four shots in the first five minutes as the fourth found the back of the net for the Spartans first goal of the night.Â
- Fifteen seconds later Dubuque streched their lead to two with another goal following the draw control.Â
- Loras' first goal came at the 20:50 mark when junior AnnaRose Einarsen found fellow junior Sarah Hanson inside the 8-meter to put the Duhawks on the board.Â
- Midway through the half, the Spartans went on an offensive stretch with eight shots in a six minute strech, striking for two goals to open a 6-1 lead.
- The rally continued for the Spartans, adding three goals in a three-minute span, resulting in a 9-1 lead.Â
- A goal from Dougherty with less than a minute on the clock pulled Loras to within seven heading into halftime.Â
Second Half
- Senior Anna Schwalbe got the Duhawk offense rolling in the second half with a goal less than two minutes into play.Â
- Five Spartan fouls within the first five minutes in the half helped Loras maintain possession for another goal at the 24:22 mark from senior Brittany Miller.Â
- In less than two minutes, Miller and freshman Olivia Flynn netted goals for the Duhawks to pull Loras to within three with over 20 minutes remaining.Â
- After a Dubuque timeout, the Spartans ended the 4-0 scoring run for the Duhawks with a goal at the 17:34 for a 10-6 advantage.Â
- The Duhawks responded to the Spartans goal with two of their own, this time from both Hanson and Dougherty, each of their second goals of the day.Â
- After scoring their 11th goal of the night, Dubuque sealed the victory, holding off a late push from Loras that saw four shots on target, all of which were saved.

Loras travels to Mount Vernon for a MWLC match against Cornell. The Rams and Duhawks face off on Monday, April 10. Cornell is 2-10 on the season and 1-6 in the MWLC after falling to Elmhurst on April 2.
