LINCOLN, Neb. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras baseball team responded in a big way on Friday to its recent setbacks, erupting for 11 runs against Nebraska Wesleyan on Friday. Junior Mike Muto finished 2-for-3 with a pair of walks and two RBIs to lead the offensive charge.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Game One
- A scoreless first inning paved the way for the Duhawks who opened a 3-0 lead in the second inning, highlighted by a two-RBI double by Muto to center.
- Senior Nolan Ritter extended the inning after reaching on an error by the pitcher that scored Muto from second.
- The Prairie Wolves responded with a run in the third and the 3-1 scoreline held true until the seventh inning.
- Senior Luke Leibforth led off the inning with a four-pitch walk and later came around to score on a single by junior Danny Weis.
- After a pitching change by Nebraska Wesleyan, sophomore Jake Oglesby blasted the 1-0 offering over the right field wall for his second four-bagger of the season.
- Junior Brad Schwind tossed a gem for the Duhawks, scattering four hits over seven innings while striking out nine. The lone run scored against Schwind was unearned.
- Leading 7-1, Loras added four more runs over the next two innings, highlighted by a two-RBI single by Leibforth that he sent right back up the middle.

- Schwind improved to 3-2 this season and matched the longest outing of his career. His nine strikeouts was a career best.
- Leibforth tied a career-best for RBIs in a game and recorded his eighth multiple-hit game of the season, tying a team-high

Brad Schwind | The Duhawks' ace limited the Nebraska Wesleyan offense, allowing one unearned run over seven innings while striking out nine. Sixty percent of Schwind's pitches on Friday went for strikes and did not concede an extra-base hit.
