PELLA, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's volleyball team concluded its weekend at the IIAC-NACC Crossover Challenge on Saturday splitting with a win against Benedictine and a loss to Lakeland. Sophomore
Michelle Budden finished with 39 kills and a .257 attack percentage on Saturday, ripping off 21 kills against Benedictine.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
-Trailing 20-15 in the first set against Benedictine, Loras ripped off a 8-2 run to take the lead at 23-22 before registering two of the final three points to win the set
-The Duhawks responded to a 6-1 run by the Eagles in set two with a 7-2 run of their own to level at 15-all
-Facing set point at 24-21, Loras staved off Benedictine for a pair of points before conceding 25-23
-Midway through set three, the Duhawks took a commanding lead at 20-13 on their way to moving ahead in the match 2-1, winning set three 25-15
-Loras used the momentum from its big win in the third set and rolled through to an 8-0 lead with senior

-Before too long, the Duhawks had doubled up the Eagles at 18-9 and eventually took the match at 25-15 on Budden's 21st kill
-In the first set against Lakeland, Loras ran out to an 8-2 lead, but the Muskies came right back with a 10-4 run to equalize at 12-all
-Following a back-and-forth middle portion of the set, the Duhawks closed on a 4-1 run to win the opener 25-23
-In set two, Loras found itself ahead 14-11 before Lakeland rattled off seven unanswered points to take the lead at 18-14
-The Duhawks found level ground after a 3-0 run made it 21-all, but it was the Muskies who prevailed in extras to win 29-27 and even the match
-Lakeland's ability to craft long-runs proved vital once again in set three as the Muskies ripped off seven-straight to go from being down 15-13 to ahead 20-15
-A 4-0 run by the Duhawks brought the frame to within one at 20-19, but Lakeland preserved its lead to take the set, 25-22
-The Muskies capped the match with another close battle that was neck-and-neck throughout with neither side holding more than a three-point lead
-Level at 23-all, Lakeland took the set, 25-23, and the match, 3-1, after back-to-back attack errors by Loras

-Allgeyer posted a career-high 16 digs in the win over Benedictine
-Bergan now stands at 2,128 digs for her career, averaging 5.31 per set
-Boge's seven blocks against Benedictine was a career-high
-Budden turned in the best day of her career to date, finishing with 21 kills and a .476 attack percentage against Benedictine and later 15 digs against Lakeland, all of which were career-bests

FRIEDMAN GROUP PLAYER OF THE GAME - MICHELLE BUDDEN
With 39 kills on Saturday, the Hazel Green, Wis. native was on-point and proved to be a handful for Benedictine and Lakeland to try and contain. Her .476 attack percentage against Benedictine was a team-high for the season, as was her kill total. In fact, Budden's totals on Saturday now rank as the top-two kill marks of the season for the Duhawks.
