WEEK ONE RECAP
Coming off of a 32-point victory in week one against Elmhurst, the Duhawk offense was quick and efficient both on the ground and through the air. Senior
Bob Kelly completed 15-of-25 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown to senior
Mike Kuhn. Loras accumulated 211 rushing yards and a total of four rushing touchdowns, three of which came from senior
Ike Cloward. Loras converted on all six of its red zone appearances and did not commit a turnover for the first time since October of 2014.
Â
SUCCESSFUL GROUND GAME
Senior
Ike Cloward and Junior
Cody Mighell split the workload as each ran the ball 17 times and were able make explosive plays off almost every touch. Both Cloward and Mighell each had more than 80 rushing yards a piece and totaled 4 touchdowns together. They have proved to successfully fill the void of last years' starting running back
Zach Minch who totaled 1,000 yard seasons twice in a row.
Â
STIFLING DEFENSE
The Duhawks surrendered nine points during week one and are coming off their largest margin of victory in three years. Loras was led by senior
Bob Brophy and sophomore
Logan Sheppard as they had 8 tackles a piece. Shepard hauled one of the two interceptions on the day along with junior
Walter Ollie. A major key to future success this season for the Duhawks will be the ability to contain opposing offenses in order to provide ample opportunity for the offensive unit.
