DiCanio Notches Career High in Win Over Dutch

PELLA, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - One game removed from recording his 1,000th career point, junior Ryan DiCanio recorded his career-high in points, finishing Wednesday's game with 38 in the Duhawks' 94-85 win over Central.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
- After starting with 20 of Loras' first 22 points, DiCanio helped the Duhawks start on a 22-9 run
- Loras extended its lead to as many as 21 with 8:38 to play after a layup by Rowan McGowen
- The Dutch found their footing before the end of the half and cut the deficit to eight heading to the locker room
- Back-to-back jumpers from Central to start the second half cut the Duhawk lead to four inside of the first minute
- It took six minutes, but Loras regained its 10-point lead after a jumper from Matt Dacy-Seijo with 13:07 remaining in the half
- An 8-1 run from the Dutch gave them their first lead of the night at 68-67 with 7:30 to play
- A 3-pointer by Justin Busch in the corner put his team back in front for the final time at the 3:29 mark of the half
- Loras kept Central at a safe distance down the stretch, scoring 14 of the game's final 22 points

TEAM NOTABLES
- The Duhawks finished with 10-or-more 3-pointers for the seventh time in the last eight games ... Wednesday marked the third time this season and second time against Central that Loras shot over 50.0 percent from distance
- In four of the last five games, the Duhawks have out-rebounded their opponents ... The one game that they did not was in a loss to Coe
- Loras improved to 8-3 in games decided by less than 10 points this season

INDIVIDUAL NOTABLES
- DiCanio moves into 36th on the all-time scoring list and sits at 1,047 points in his career
- Wednesday was only the second time in 21 games that Josh Ruggles did not convert on a 3-point field goal attempt ... The junior from Wheaton, Ill. contributed in other areas of the game, finishing with seven rebounds and five assists

- After scoring 27 points on three separate occasions last season, DiCanio broke through and set a career-high on Wednesday, finishing with a game-high 38 points ... His scoring output is the highest for a Loras player this season
