Football Blasts Prairie Wolves for Homecoming Victory

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - Saturday's 44-20 win for the Loras football team added to the excitement and celebration surrounding Homecoming 2018. From the opening whistle, the Purple & Gold came out with one goal in mind, victory. Noah Sigwarth recorded his first career 300-yard passing game, finishing with four touchdowns and 341 yards through the air. Defensively, the Duhawks bulldozed their way to seven sacks nine quarterback hurries and 11 pass breakups.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• Loras opened the scoring on its second drive of the game thanks to a Sigwarth strike to Elijah Thomas for 53 yards and the score
• It was the Duhawks' defense that came ready to play, preventing touchdowns after an interception and blocked punt
• A muffed punt by Nebraska Wesleyan allowed Loras to regain the lead just before the end of the first quarter on Sigwarth's second passing touchdown, this time to Sam Maloney
• The Prairie Wolves' first play of the second half went south after a forced fumble by Brenton Chumbler ... Five plays later, it was Maloney who hauled in his second touchdown of the day to put the Duhawks ahead, 28-13
• After Nebraska Wesleyan cut the lead to eight, Cody Mighell finished an eight-play, 77-yard touchdown drive, giving Loras back the double-digit advantage
• Trailing by 15 entering the fourth quarter, the wheels came off the wagon for Nebraska Wesleyan ... The smothering Loras defense held the visitors to 10 yards of offense and prevented the Prairie Wolves from securing a single first down, all while the Duhawks rolled on with growing confidence, finishing with 193 yards of offense in the game's final quarter on 26 plays from the line of scrimmage
• Mighell capped the scoring midway through the fourth quarter, running untouched for 66 yards for his second touchdown of the game

NOTABLES
• Boelkow tied his season-best with his seventh receiving touchdown ... The senior finished with 87 yards on six catches, bringing his career total to 1,962 yards
• Sigwarth tied his career-high with four passing touchdowns and set a new career-best with 341 passing yards
Walker Even's play on defense led the way, with Even totaling 12 tackles on Saturday
• Mighell enjoyed his second two-touchdown game of his career against Nebraska Wesleyan, having done so in his 2017 meeting with the Prairie Wolves
• Maloney hauled in six catches for 148 yards and two touchdowns, including a long of 50 yards
