DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - It may not have been clinical, but the Loras men's soccer team found a way despite playing down a man for over 70 minutes.
Javi Simon fought through a scrum in front of goal in the 102nd minute to earn the Duhawks their fifth league win this season.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• The Knights came out as the stronger of the two sides, but it was Loras who opened the scoring as Simon benefited from a misplay by Wartburg, taking the lead in the fourth minute
• In the 35th minute,
Tigrio Huerta was sent off on a red card, forcing Loras to play a man-down the rest of the way
• Wartburg finally solved the man-advantage in the 50th minute after the Duhawks failed to clear after a long throw
• In the 98th minute,
Raudel Fierro thought he had connected for the match-winner, only to have the center official call the goal back
• A foul on the Knights gave Loras a free kick in the 101st minute ... After the initial service was turned away, the Duhawks kept their forward pressure and Lenke put just enough on his touch to open a shooting lane for Simon, who did not miss
