PELLA, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - Down 2-0 on Friday night, the Loras women's volleyball team clawed its way back into contention, eventually completing the comeback with a win in the fifth set over Central.
Kayla Kinney set a new career high with 19 kills along with 15 digs.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• A 6-2 run late in the first set pushed the Duhawks to set point, but a furious rally by the Dutch resulted in six unanswered points for the home side to give Central the 1-0 lead in the match
• In set two, Central doubled its lead midway through the frame thanks to a 5-0 run and held Loras at bay, taking a 2-0 lead in the match, 25-15
• The Duhawks turned over a new page in the third set, taking a 19-16 lead ... Loras registered six of the last eight points to win 25-20 and force a fourth set
• Loras solidified its grip on the match in the fourth set and ran out to a 16-9 lead after a kill by Kinney ... The Dutch managed to cut the deficit to five at 19-14 but it was the Duhawks who prevailed to force a fifth set, winning the fourth 25-16
