Duhawks Edge Simpson in Five

INDIANOLA, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - In a flip of the script from Friday night, the Loras women's volleyball team jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Simpson forced a fifth set. The Duhawks found their stride once again in the fifth, improving to 17-8 overall this season.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• On Saturday, it was Loras who jumped out to a seven-point lead at 17-10 ... The Storm roared back immediately with a 6-0 run of their own ... Leading 23-21 and with Jenna Mazur at the service line, the Duhawks tacked on the final two points, with one coming via kill by Paige Griffith and Mazur sealing the set with a service ace
• Simpson led 21-18 in set two before four consecutive attack errors pulled Loras back into contention ... The Duhawks held set point five times, eventually closing the set, 30-28, after a solo block by Jackie Alberto
• It looked as thought Loras was ready to finish with a sweep, leading 23-21, but four straight points by the Storm forced a fourth set
• Simpson held the advantage in the fourth by a six-point margin before the errors began to stack up once again, pulling the Duhawks from down five to ahead by two at 20-18 ... The Storm regained their composure and held on to force a fifth and final set
• The offense brought the heat for Loras in the final frame to pull the Duhawks from down three at 9-6 to leading 13-10 ... During the run, Kayla Kinney contributed three kills while Kelly Boge added two
• Holding match point, Abby Allgeyer and Boge combined for the double block, sending Loras to victory, 18-16

NOTABLES
• Alberto set a new career-best with her .440 attack percentage while adding three solo blocks
• Allgeyer's three blocks served as a personal best for the junior
• Boge led the charge on Saturday with her 15 kills, besting her former mark of 14
• Paige Griffth needs one kills to reach 100 for her career
• With three matches remaining, Mazur can set a new season-high with 23 digs as she currently sits at 197
• If the Duhawks could win out, they would reach 20 wins in a season for the second time under head coach Jenna Ness and first time since the 2015 season
