Duhawks Drop Conference Finale to Spartans

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The night started on the right foot for the Loras women's volleyball team, but quickly came apart, as the Duhawks dropped their regular season conference finale on Wednesday night to Dubuque, 3-1. Kelly Boge continued her strong play of late, totaling 12 kills and a team-best .313 attack percentage.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• It was the Spartans who came out strong in set one, opening a 7-2 lead ... It would take Loras until 14-all to find level ground, thanks to consecutive attack errors by Dubuque
• The Duhawks did just enough to hang around without letting the Spartans open too much of a lead ... At 22-all, Boge's kill coupled with a Dubuque attack error pushed Loras to set point ... After two points by the Spartans Paige Griffith and Boge closed the frame with back-to-back kills
• The Spartans took the first substantial lead of the second set after a 7-2 run, starting at 10-all ... The Duhawks managed to fight back to 22-all but were unable to earn match point, falling 27-25
• After trailing by as many as seven in set three, Loras cut the deficit to three at 23-20, but a service error by the Duhawks and kill by Dubuque gave the Spartans the 2-1 lead in the match
• The fourth set proved to be the most balanced of the night, with neither side holding more than a three-point lead until Abby Allgeyer's kill made it 23-20 ... Loras failed to hold set point at 24-20, conceding seven of the next eight points to fall 27-25

NOTABLES
• Boge is quickly approaching 200 career blocks, needing eight in her next three matches to reach the mark
• Griffith extended her streak to 26 matches with at least one kill
Krystal Tranel set a new season-high with 30 digs, bringing her season total to 473 while averaging 4.64 per set
