Duhawks Bombard Beavers

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - It took 10 seconds for Loras to stake its claim in Storm Lake on Wednesday night, as the women's soccer team won its eighth consecutive match in convincing fashion, 6-1. With the win, the Duhawks improve to 9-2-0 this season and 3-0-0 in the American Rivers Conference.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• Brynn Jacobi found twine for the sixth time this season, 14 seconds into Wednesday's match after a blunder in the Beavers' backline
Ryleigh O'Brien continued her break-out year,scoring the second goal of the match … After receiving the cross from Gretchen Schutz, O'Brien chested the ball in for her fifth goal of the season
• Schutz solidified her free kick dominance, delivering her sixth goal of the season on a low, bouncing shot past the keeper
Emily Perhats converted her first goal of her young career in the 61st minute off an assist from Jenny Wick on the corner kick
•Buena Vista's lone goal of the evening came from the penalty spot in the 69th minute
• With 15 minutes to play, Brianna Arreguin was taken down in the box and on the ensuing penalty, buried it for her first career goal
• Twenty-five seconds later, Arreguin found the ball on her foot again off the Genna Sobieszczyk pass finished for the second-half brace

NOTABLES
• Schutz and Jacobi are currently tied for the team lead in goals at six
• Seven Duhawks contributed to the scoring on Wednesday
• Schutz moved into second place all-time in school history for career assists, recording her 35th against the Beavers
• Perhats and Arreguin both scored their first career goals
• Loras remains perfect in their all-time series against Buena Vista, improving to 22-0-0 since 1995

UP NEXT
Loras returns to the confines of home for a showdown with Luther on Saturday. The Norse are 2-5-3 overall and 2-0-0 in league play, coming off a win last Saturday against Buena Vista. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. inside the Rock Bowl.
