Women's Basketball Tripped in Season Opener

OSHKOSH, Wis. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's basketball team opened its season on Friday, falling to UW-Oshkosh, 85-73. Macenzie Kraemer led the Duhawks on offense, finishing with 17 points.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• The Duhawks struggled early with their new lineup and was held to seven points in the opening quarter
• Loras upped the defensive intensity late in the second quarter, holding UW-Oshkosh to six points in the last five minutes
• Hannah Stokes converted an and-1 layup with seconds left in the half to narrow the Titan lead to 10 heading into halftime. 
• In a back and forth third quarter, UW-Oshkosh sank five 3-pointers, bumping its lead to 18 heading into the fourth quarter
• The Duhawks finally found their groove in the fourth quarter as juniors Riley Eckhart and Macenzie Kraemer each sunk and pair of 3-pointers, aiding in Loras' 6-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc in the quarter
• With 3:56 in the fourth quarter, Tayler Walker nailed a 3-pointer to bring the Duhawks within eight for the first time since the 1st quarter
 
NOTABLES
• In their first matchup since 2015, the Duhawks fall to 2-6 all-time against the Titans. 
• Marissa Schroeder finished the night with 15 points, 9 rebounds, one shy of a double double
• Kraemer led both sides in scoring with 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the floor

Loras travels to Whitewater, Wis. on Monday for a non-conference tilt against last season's WIAC Champions, UW-Whitewater. The Warhawks are coming off a 25-4 season that ended in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
