WHEATON, Ill. (Duhawks.com) - Friday's regional semifinal required 103 minutes to determine a winner, but
Gretchen Schutz' free kick proved to be the difference as Loras improved to 17-3-0 this season and advancing to Saturday's contest against Wheaton.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• Loras raced out of the gates and used the 15 mph wind to its aid, pummeling the Adrian goal with seven shots in the first 10 minutes
• The Duhawks finished the opening half with 18 shots, including 10 on target, but none were of scoring quality to best the Bulldogs
• After the break, Adrian came out with a renewed sense of energy, resulting in three shots in the opening six minutes

Kaylee Coble made two of her nine saves early in the second half to keep the sides level
• Following a free kick by the Bulldogs,
Brynn Jacobi was sprung free into the attacking third, only to have her shot saved
• Jacobi found herself alone inside the penalty area in the 92nd minute with the ball at her feet after a pass from
Elizabeth Mills, but once again, the Adrian goalkeeper was up to the task
• In the second period of extra time,
Jenny Wick drew a foul just outside the penalty area ... On the ensuing free kick,
Gretchen Schutz blasted a low, bouncing shot past the diving goalkeeper and into the back of the net for the winner
NOTABLES
• Loras is now 1-0-0 against Adrian ... The Bulldogs were making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament while Loras improved to 13-12-2 all-time
• Schutz' match-winner was the sixth of her career and second of the season ... The senior now ranks fifth all-time in program history with 27 goals
• Coble's nine saves set a new season-best while earning her 10th career clean sheet
• The Duhawks improved to 3-0-0 this season in matches requiring extra time while collecting their eighth win of the season away from the Rock Bowl (8-0-0)
• Saturday will be the third meeting all-time and second consecutive between Loras and Wheaton in the NCAA Tournament, with the Thunder claiming victory in the previous two meetings (2017, 2013) ... Both losses for the Duhawks have been by one-goal margins
