Boyd's Double-Double Leads Charge Against Auggies

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The 20th-ranked Loras men's basketball team flexed its defensive muscle on Saturday night en route to an 89-66 win over Augsburg. Jordan Boyd finished with a team-high 19 points and 11 rebounds, while the defense held the Auggies to its lowest offensive performance of the season.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• The Duhawks opened the game with a 7-2 run but the Auggies answered with an 8-0 run of their own to take a 10-8 lead
• Loras immediately responded as Ryan DiCanio knocked down a transition 3-pointer, sparking a 9-1 run and forcing an early Augsburg timeout
• On the back of Jordan Boyd's 12 first half points, the Duhawks took a 39-29 lead into the half
• The Duhawks opened up the second half with stifling pressure forcing back to back turnovers and going on a 12-4 run to push their lead to 18
• With 13 minutes on the game clock, Jake Toman swatted the Auggie layup off the glass leading to the Jordan Matthews corner three giving Loras a 20-point lead
• Cole Navigato hauled in a huge offensive board with six minutes left and found Jake Toman for the bucket and the foul
• With 2:41 on the clock, Demond George hit nothing but net, pushing the lead to 26 at 83-57

• Josh Ruggles (1,004) reached 1,000 points in his collegiate career … He is 99 points away from 1,000 points in his Loras career
• DiCanio (1,331) moved into 12th place on the Loras all-time scoring list … DiCanio (562) also moved into 8th place on the Loras all-time rebounding list, passing Pat Lillis ('71)
• Boyd recorded career highs in points (19) and rebounds (11)
• Navigato recorded a career high in rebounds (8)
• The Duhawks improve to 2-3 all-time against the Auggies
