Duhawks Fend Off Pioneers

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's basketball improved to 2-1 on the year against WIAC opponents following a 65-56 win on Saturday over UW-Platteville. Riley Eckhart led the Duhawk attack with 17 points including a career best five 3-pointers. 

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Macenzie Kraemer scored the first six points for Loras on two catch and shoot 3-pointers
• Loras scored 19 first quarter points while holding the Pioneers to 10 on 3-of-13 shooting from the field
• With six minutes remaining the in second quarter, Riley Eckhart nailed her first 3-pointer of the night off the Jaime Ryan feed giving the Duhawks a 26-13 lead
• The Duhawks took an 11-point lead into the locker room at halftime 
Courtney Schnoor had a big third quarter, scoring six of the Duhawks' 14 points while hauling in four of her 11 rebounds
• With the Duhawks holding on to 57-54 lead heading into the fourth quarter, Riley Eckhardt shut the door on the Pioneers hitting 3-of-4  from deep
• Loras used another strong defensive quarter to close out UW-Platteville, holding the Pioneers to 12 points on 5-of-15 shooting from the floor, sealing the 65-56 win

Schnoor dominated the glass setting a new career high of 11 rebounds

After being rescheduled due to weather, Buena Vista travels to town next Thursday for a conference showdown. The Beavers are 4-5 and 0-2 in league play and are coming off an 85-73 loss to UW-La Crosse on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
