Duhawks Pound DePauw for Win No. 10

GREENCASTLE, Ind. (Duhawks.com) - A day after scoring 10 runs on 15 hits against Trine, the Loras baseball team kept the hot bats rolling on Sunday, pounding out 13 hit and 13 runs in a non-conference win over DePauw. Thomas Greffly went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two doubles.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
- The Duhawk offense wasted little time getting started on Sunday as Ryan Koester opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly, scoring Austin Konagel, who led off the game with a single
- Loras didn't stop at one, adding two more runs in the second and two more in the third ... The first of two RBI doubles for Greffly highlighted the second inning while Jake Oglesby's two-run blast was at the center of attention in the third
- After two quiet innings, the offense picked back up in the sixth as Oglesby led off with a walk and Danny Paluch was hit by a pitch ... The duo came around to score on Greffly's second double of the game ... Greffly would later score on an RBI single by Konagel
- Brad Schwind commanded the ballgame from the mound, throwing 6.0 innings of one-hit ball on his way to his fourth win of the season and eighth of his career
- Danny Weis led off the seventh inning with his first career collegiate home run
- Aidan Wojciehowski maintained his blemish-free ERA, throwing 1.0 inning of relief
- Showing no signs of stopping, Loras tacked on four more insurance runs in the top of the eighth ... Mike Muto drove in two of the four runs with a single to left field while Robbie Agerbeek and Matt Gruszkowski each contributed RBI doubles
- All signs pointed to the Duhawks wrapping up their 10th win of the season with little opposition until DePauw made matters interesting with a six-run eighth inning ... Four of the six runs scored were unearned after a costly fielding error in left field emptied the bases
- DePauw loaded the bases once again in the ninth, but Nolan Even locked it down for the win

NOTABLES
- With the win, Schwind set a career-high for wins in a season with four ... In 21.0 innings, Schwind has struck out 32, more than halfway towards his previous season-best of 61 set last season
- Opponents are hitting .081 this season against Wojciehowski, settling for three hits in 11.0 innings of relief
- Through 13 games, Loras' team ERA is a full three points lower than its opponents at 3.08
- Leading the Duhawks on offense is Weis with his .457 batting average ... Eight of Weis' 21 hits are for extra-bases including six doubles ... The senior needs seven hits to reach 100 for his career
- After receiving 24 at-bats in the previous three seasons, Greffly has turned it on as a senior ... In nine games, Greffly is hitting .429 with nine RBIs and six extra-base hits
