GREENVILLE, Ill. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's volleyball team proved that it had plenty left in the tank after Friday's marathon win against Fontbonne, defeating Greenville in three on Saturday.
Joe Jendra paced the offense with 13 kills and no errors, finishing with a .650 attack percentage. With the win, the Duhawks earned the first postseason tournament berth in program history and will be the No. 4 seed in next week's MCVL Tournament.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Set One
- Neither team managed to open a significant lead in the opening set with three points being the largest lead held by either team
- Jendra led the way with four of his 13 kills while
Dylan Ross added five digs
Set Two
- The Duhawks held leads of 5-1 and 13-7 early in the second set, which included a 4-0 run with
Alfredo Lopez at the service line
- Loras held a healthy margin over its opponent, leading by as many as seven at 17-10 after a kill by Ross
- The last four points of the set came via kill, helping the Duhawks to a .500 attack percentage for the frame
Set Three
- Leading 15-13 in the third, Greenville stormed in front with a 4-0 run, forcing a Loras timeout
- Back-to-back blocks by Loras erased the deficit and helped give the Duhawks momentum moving forward
