Duhawks Finish Knights for Series Sweep

WAVERLY, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras baseball team completed a series sweep of Wartburg on Sunday for the first time since 1995, defeating the Knights, 7-3. Danny Weis went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles to lead the Duhawks.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
- After two scoreless innings, the Duhawks opened the scoring in the top of the third, crafting a two-out rally to score two runs thanks to four consecutive hits … The first of two doubles for Weis scored Cole Thompson and Weis came around to score off a single by Ryan Koester
- The Knights answered with a pair of runs in the fourth to tie the game at two
- Loras answered immediately with two more runs in the fifth but left the bases loaded
- Leading by one heading into the ninth, the Duhawks struck for three insurance runs on a single by Weis, double by Jake Oglesby and triple by Danny Paluch … Paluch scored the third run of the inning on a wild pitch

NOTABLES
- Loras improved to 6-1 in the Iowa Conference for the program's best seven-game start since 2013 (6-1)
- Sunday marked the first series sweep on the road since 2014 when the Duhawks took four from Luther
- Aidan Wojciehowski lowered his ERA to .45, throwing 1.0 inning of relief to seal the win, setting Wartburg down in order in the ninth
- Loras is the second team in the IIAC to reach 16 wins this season, with the other being Luther at 16-7

- Weis recorded his fourth career four-hit game on Sunday, elevating his season average to .405 … His two doubles moved him to nine this season and 20 for his career
