Men's Soccer Bounced by No. 2 Chicago

CHICAGO (Duhawks.com) - Fresh off its thrilling win on Saturday against Carthage, the Loras men's soccer team had its weekend celebration come to an abrupt end on Sunday evening, falling to the University of Chicago, 3-0. Despite allowing three goals against, Jesse Buffington finished with eight saves, a career-high for the junior.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• Chicago took the lead in the 14th minute after Max Lopez buried the penalty … Loras had been whistled for the foul inside the penalty area … The shot barley snuck past the outstretched arm of Jesse Buffington
• After the penalty, Buffington made two more saves in the half to keep the Duhawks within one heading to the break
• In the 53rd minute, Chicago doubled its lead on a goal that from the end line that snuck past Buffington on the near post
• The Maroons brought the scoring to a close in the 64th minute after a breakdown in a 1v1 battle left Chicago's top goal-scorer open to add the insurance tally

NOTABLES
• After being held to two shots in the opening 45, Loras responded with 16 shots in the second half, to Chicago's 14 … In total, however, four of the Duhawks' 18 shots made it on target
• Buffington finished with eight saves, a career-high, while suffering the first loss of his collegiate career
