Football Rallies to Defeat Luther

DECORAH, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - On three separate occasions on Saturday, the Loras football team saw itself behind on the scoreboard, but each time, found a way to fight back and take the lead, eventually winning for the first time in American Rivers Conference play, 35-28. Noah Sigwarth totaled 303 yards of offense on Saturday, finishing with 213 yards through the air and two touchdowns.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• A Luther personal foul gave Loras a first down from the Norse 15-yard line … On the very next play from scrimmage, Sigwarth rolled right out of the pocket and scampered to the end zone for the score
• The lead lasted 1:59 as Luther came right back and scored five plays later
• After a Loras 3-and-out, the Norse took a 14-7 lead before the end of the first quarter
• Trailing 14-10 after the field goal by Timmy Tischer, Sigwarth scored his second rushing touchdown of the half on a two-yard run … Loras pulled a piece of trickery as Michael Stebbins took the snap and found Brian Gilles in the end zone for the two-point conversion
• Luther scored one more touchdown before the end of the half, taking a 21-18 lead into the locker room
• The Duhawks' first drive of the second half lasted 15 plays, their longest of the day … Sigwarth capped the drive with his first passing touchdown of the day, connecting with Brad Boelkow
• Loras' five-point lead lasted 91 seconds after the Norse retook the lead on a 60-yard quarterback keeper
• Tischer's 22-yard field goal with 7:19 to play in the fourth quarter tied the game after an eight-play, 74-yard drive for Loras
• On 3rd-and-6 from the Duhawks' 22-yard line, Luther was flagged for roughing the passer, giving Loras a fresh set of downs … Two plays later, Sigwarth checked down his list of receivers and found Elijah Thomas underneath the coverage … Thomas took the catch and ran away from the opposition for a 60-yard touchdown

• Danny Kamm(11)and Bryce Sinn(8)set season-high marks for tackles
• Alex Wernimont finished with a game-high and career-high 15 tackles, including seven solo tackles
• Cody Mighell registered his second 100-yard rushing game of the season and tied his career-long with a 35-yard run
• Sigwarth set single game career highs for rushing touchdowns(2),rushing yards(93),longest rush(41yards), while tying his career-best for passing touchdowns(2)
• With five catches on Saturday, Boelkow surpassed the century mark for his career and currently sits at 101, averaging 16.5 yards per catch
• Gilles' catch for the two-point conversion was the second in his career
