Duhawks Complete Comeback Against Dubuque

October 23, 2019 - The Loras College men's soccer team hosted the University of Dubuque Spartans in an American Rivers Conference battle. The Duhawks brought their record to 13-4-1 after a 5-4 overtime win against the Spartans.

Dubuque got on the scoreboard early after a goal six minutes into the game. The Spartans found the back of the net again to take a 2-0 lead in the 13th minute. Four minutes later Dubuque added to their lead to go up 3-0 with plenty of time remaining in the first half. Later in the half the Spartans struck again to add to their advantage lead.

Trailing 4-0 in the first half, Mark Broderick got the Duhawks on the board off an assist by Kevin Kucaba. Loras started the second half strong by getting plenty of opportunities around the net, but were unsuccessful when it came to scoring. With 30 minutes remaining in the game, Zeus Huerta found the net for the Duhawks to bring their deficit to two goals.

With time ticking down in the second half, Loras struck again to bring the score to within one. Zeke Kyoore finds the back of the net to to pick up his fourth goal of the season. With just over 13 minutes to go in the game, Tigrio Huerta tied the game to give the Duhawks their fourth unanswered goal.

After trailing 4-0 earlier in the game, Loras came back to force an overtime period. With 1:07 remaining in the overtime period, Broderick found the back of the net for his second goal of the game and the game winner. The Duhawks finished the game with 34 shots, 15 shots on goal, and 14 corner kicks. 

Loras will resume action on the road at Nebraska Wesleyan University on Saturday, October 26. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
