Swim and Dive Dominates at Simpson

INDIANOLA, Iowa (Nov. 22, 2019) – In the first of two dual meets for the weekend, the Loras College swimming and diving team cruised to two victories against Simpson College on Friday as the men won the meet against the Storm 125-10 and the women posted a winning score of 113-64.

Nina Schiro placed first in the 100-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 59:23 and swam on the 200-yard freestyle relay with Kinsey Bogen, Harriet Siegrist and Krystal Shannon with a time of 2:00.04. The relay team of Sarah Shafer, Alex Nesset, Amber Forbort and Stephanie Hill swam to a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:01.39 and Shafer posted top-times in the 100-yard backstroke (59.81) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.93). Bogen also placed first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 12:19.01.

The men's team had a dominating performance against Simpson, placing first in every event. John Lynch IV won the 50-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 23.98 and the 100-yard butterfly by more than four seconds with a time of 56.18. Charles Holmes won the 100-yard freestyle in 54.96 and Zach Nelson won the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.55) and 500-yard freestyle (5:10.14). Ben Fogarty turned in a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, swimming a time of 1:05.95 and Tim LaGrange won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.21) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:17.97). The Duhawks' relay teams scored a combined 22 points for Loras as the quartet of Fogarty, Nelson, Christopher Grunke and Cole Rabedeaux swam a time of 1:45.90 in the 200-yard freestyle relay and Lynch, LaGrange, Holmes and AJ Grainer swam a time of 1:48.71 in the 200-yard medley relay.

Loras returns to the pool on Saturday, Nov. 23 for a dual meet at Grinnell College. Events begin at 1 P.M.
