DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The cardiac kids made another appearance Wednesday night inside the Athletic & Wellness Center as the No. 20 Loras men's basketball team held on for its 11^th conference win of the season. Demond George scored 17 points in the win, joining the 1,000 point club at Loras in the process.
 
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• The Norse controlled the majority of the first half as the Duhawks did not hold a lead until Josh Ruggles nailed a transition 3-pointer of the Jordan Matthews feed at the 11:34 mark, giving them a 22-19 lead
• Luther closed out the first half on a 7-0 run, good for a six point lead after 20 minutes
• George wasted no time getting started in the second half, connecting on a triple 20 seconds into the half
• With 11:32 remaining in the game, the Norse tied the game once again on a 3-pointer … On Loras' next possession the 11 minute mark, the Norse hit a three to tie the game at 63, only to • have Ryan DiCanio immediately answer with a layup
• Following George's free-throws with 25 seconds to go, Luther immediately responded with a layup, giving them an 84-83 lead with five seconds to play
• On the inbounds pass, Ruggles was fouled hard and awarded two free-throws, of which he sank both
• With Loras ahead, the Norse fumbled the in-bounds pass and turned it over to the Duhawks … Cole Navigato stepped up and sank both of his free-throws
 
NOTABLES
• Josh Ruggles (1,164) now sits as Loras' 23rd all time leading scorer, two points away from passing Jeff Hermson (1,165) at 22nd
• Loras recorded assists on 21 of their 30 field goals
• The Norse had 32 points come from bench players while Loras had six
• There were a combined 62 3-pointers attempted in the game

Loras heads on the road for one last time this regular season as they head to Pella for a rematch with Central. The Dutch currently sit in seventh place in the A-R-C with a 5-10 conference record. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m.
