CAROL STREAM, Ill. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras baseball team finished its trip to the Chicago suburbs on Sunday with a second consecutive doubleheader split. In game one, the Duhawks defeated Northland, 16-9, before falling to the hosts, Aurora, 4-3.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Loras vs. Northland
• Loras managed to grab a quick 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning, scoring on a bases loaded walk, a passed ball and a ground out
• Holding a 3-1 lead going into the top of the fourth, the Duhawks allowed two runs to cross the plate
• With a runner on third,
Austin Konagel reached on an error that scored
Dylan Pardoe, pushing Loras back in front
• The Duhawks added to their lead in the fifth on an RBI single by
Danny Paluch and a sacrifice fly by Pardoe
• A bases loaded walk and a two-run single by Northland, pulled the Jacks to within one
• Loras held an 8-6 lead in the seventh, but a five-hit inning by Northland gave the Jacks their first lead of the game

• In the eighth, Thompson tripled again and later stole home to help the Duhawks to a 16-9 victory

• The first run of the game came in the top of the fifth, after an Aurora error allowed Pardoe to score from second base

Luke Fennelly reached on an error by the shortstop, which scored a run to put Loras up 2-0 ... Konagel then grounded out to the first baseman with one out, allowing
Joe Egan to score from third
• It took until the bottom of the seventh for the Spartans to get their first runs of the game, where they responded with three runs to tie the game
• In the bottom of the eighth, Aurora scored again with a single with a runner in scoring position
• The Duhawks had a man aboard with one out in the ninth, but couldn't get him to cross the plate, falling 4-3.

• The 16 runs scored against Northland marked a team-best this season

• Edminster recorded his longest appearance in a Duhawk uniform, throwing seven complete innings.
