August 31, 2019 (Duhawks.com) - The Loras College women's soccer team season started off strong with a 4-0 victory over Macalester College Saturday afternoon in the Rock Bowl.Â
The Duhawks tallied 13 shots in the first half, four in the first nine minutes of play but couldn't get on the board. Loras finished the game with a 25-6 shot advantage.
"It was a slow start in the first half, but we brought it together well at the end of the half and kept it up throughout the remainder of the game," said head coach
Matt Pucci.
Brynn Jacobi opened up the scoring for the Duhawks thanks to the quick give-and-go from
Payton McDonnell to put the Duhawks up 1-0.Â
Goalie
Kaylee Coble had a light day just needing to step in twice to keep Loras's shut out alive.
Braylin Mensik scored her first goal of her career in the 47th minute chipping the ball over the goalie and sending it to the back of the net to give the Duhawks the 2-0 cushion.Â
Jenny Wick sent a rocket from the corner to find
Kiki Cabrera who guided the header into the top corner to score the third goal of the day.
Payton McDonnell capped off the scoring and scored the first goal of her career in the 65th minute by securing the penalty kick goal.Â
