WATERLOO, Iowa (Sept. 21, 2019) – Inclement weather did not deter the Loras College men's tennis team as the Duhawks celebrated individual achievements at the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Individual Tournament on Friday, Sept. 20 and Saturday, Sept. 21 with freshman Eian Coad winning the C-flight singles championship and sophomore Riley Collins placing third in the B-flight.

Coad opened play against Central College's Joe Roberts on Friday in the C-flight, scoring an 8-0 win in the preliminary round. He advanced to face the University of Dubuque's Garrett Goeden, winning that match 8-1. Coad continued his winning ways in the second round, defeating Buena Vista University's Brenden Schlader, 8-2.

In the quarterfinals, Coad rebounded from a 7-5 loss in the first set to Simpson College's Aaron Price for a 6-0 win in the second set and a 10-7 win for the tiebreaker. In the semifinals, Coad defeated Hayden Retzlaff 7-5, 6-3 to advance to the finals and win the championship against Peter Walkwitz from Simpson College by a score of 6-2, 6-4.

Collins got things started for the Duhawks in the B-flight with a win against Simpson's Brett Dewerff by a score of 6-1, 6-1 before defeating Wartburg College's Nate Kolz 6-2, 6-3. In the quarterfinals, Collins scored another win against Ethan St. John from Central, 6-4, 7-5, but Luther College's Charlie Weill, who would go on to win the championship, defeated Collins by scores of 6-1, 6-0. He took third following a hard fought battle against Jose Mancilla from Dubuque, defeating him 5-7, 6-4, 11-9.

The Duhawks head to St. Peter, Minn. for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Tournament, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College, on Friday, Sept. 27.
