CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Jan. 22, 2020) – The Loras College men's basketball team (11-6, 4-4 A-R-C) came up short versus American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) opponent Coe College (10-7, 5-3 A-R-C) on Wednesday, dropping an 81-74 decision against the Kohawks.

It was a back-and-forth contest between the two teams from the start as JT Ford gave the Duhawks their first lead of the game with a three-point basket off the pass from Jake Healy. Loras lost their lead at the 10:03 mark in the first half and the Kohawks took advantage of that momentum going on a 7-0 run. However, the Duhawks clawed back quickly cutting the Kohawk lead to just one with a made three-point basket by Rowan McGowen. The Kohawks pulled out ahead once again but a pair of free throws from Cole Navigato and four points from McGowen helped the Duhawks into the locker room only down seven.

The Kohawks maintained their lead up until the 12:58 mark in the second half when Healy stole the ball and was fouled on his way up on the fast break. Healy made both free throws tying the game at 51 all. The back-and-forth continued late in the second half with two more lead changes before Ben Burkholder tied the game again for the Duhawks. Despite a late push by Jordan Matthews, Healy, Ford, and McGowen were not enough to overthrow the Kohawks as Loras moved to 4-4 in A-R-C action with the 81-74 loss.

McGowen led the Duhawks with 24 points, Ford had 21 points and tied for a team-high nine rebounds while Navigato had seven rebounds and added 15 points. Healy also finished with nine rebounds and nine points of his own.

The Duhawks continue A-R-C play and return to Lillis Court on Saturday, Jan. 25 to host Luther College. Tip-off is set for 4 P.M.
