CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Jan. 22, 2020)- The No. 8 Loras College women's basketball team (16-1, 7-1 A-R-C) defeated American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) opponent Coe College (10-7, 5-3) 72-54 extending their win streak to ten games.

The Duhawks came out firing against Coe College proving why they are the No. 8 ranked team in Divison III according to D3hoops.com. The Duhawks came out firing outscoring the Kohawks 22-9 in the first quarter. Loras gained this early lead from a pair of three-point baskets from seniors Riley Eckhart and Kari Fitzpatrick while Marissa Schroeder and Courtney Schnoor each had six points.

Despite the Duhawks quick start Coe did not waver putting up 14 points only being outscored by three points in the second quarter. Despite this second quarter performance by the Kohawks the already established Loras lead did not fade since the Duhawks added 17 more extending their lead to 16 points before the half. Schnoor and Schroeder mirrored each other again both totaling 10 points at half heading into the locker room ahead 39-23.

Heading into the third quarter it was apparent that the Duhawks were not satisfied with having the lead. Macenzie Kraemer provided the spark for the Duhawks scoring seven of her 19 points in the third quarter three of them coming off a clutch three-point basket to put the Duhawks up 23 points. Loras played strong defense all game long creating 8 of their 26 turnovers in the third quarter alone and scoring 32 points off turnovers against the Kohawks which was a key contributor to the Duhawks victory.

At the start of the fourth quarter the Duhawks were in the lead with a score of 58-38. Loras did not take their foot off the gas as they extended their lead to 26 points with 5:35 left to play in the game by a layup from Eckhart. However, much like the second quarter, the Kohawks showed no signs of quitting scoring the last six points of the game but that was not enough to grab the win from the Duhawks making the finals score 72-54.

The Duhawks finished the game with all five starters in double figures. Kraemer led in scoring with 19 points, Fitzpatrick tallied 13 points while Schnoor added 12 points, Schroeder led the team in rebounds with 9 and added 11 points of her own making her just two points shy of 1,000 points while Eckhart finished the night with 10 points.

Loras looks to extend their winning streak to eleven games on Saturday, Jan. 25 as they host A-R-C opponent Luther College at 2:00 P.M..
