LINCOLN, Neb. (Jan. 22, 2020) - The No. 3 Loras College wrestling team outscored its opponents 164-23 at the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Duals on Saturday, winning its four duals against No.17 Luther College, No. 5 Coe College, Simpson College, and the host Nebraska Wesleyan University and maintaining a perfect conference record of 6-0. 
 
D3wrestle.com contender Matt Randone started the Duhawks off with a win against No. 17 Luther College at 125 lbs., with a dominating major decision 15-5 against Luther's Sam Camacho while Brice Everson earned a 4-2 decision over Tyler Difiore putting the Duhawks ahead 7-0. At the 141 lb. weight class Mason McMillen dominated Jake Nadeau, getting the major decision by a score of 12-3 while Brock Parker also got the major decision over Teagan Miller by a score of 12-3, extending the Duhawks lead to 15-0. The No. 4/2 ranked 157 pounder, Brandon Murray controlled the match from start to finish earning an 18-2 tech fall over Tyler Menegay. At 165, No. 3/2 Eddie Smith pinned Tanner Weaver at the 2:01 mark putting the Duhawks up 26-0. Loras added to their lead with Kirk Mommsen earning a 15-0 tech fall over Skyler Shuman at 174 lbs. The No. 8/8 wrestler at 184 lbs., Shane Liegel pinned Jordan Thompson in the first period while the No. 2/2 ranked Guy Patron Jr. added to the Duhawk team total with a pin over Donovan Corn in the third period. Slade Sifuentes finished the dual meet off strong for the Duhawks with a hard-fought 6-5 decision over Keenan Feldpausch at 285 lbs. to put Loras ahead 46-0. 
 
The next dual for Loras was against No. 5 Coe College. Alex Friddle of Coe College earned a 3-1 decision over D3wrestle.com contender Randone to give them the 3-0 lead. At 133 lbs. Everson tied it up with a 7-5 decision over D3wrestle.com contender Brock Henderson. Coe's Riley Wright, a D3wreslte.com contender at 141 lbs., won a 9-7 decision over McMillen while Parker won a 3-1 decision over Josh Gerke at 149 lbs. tying the score at 6-6. No. 4/2 Murray gave the Duhawks a six-point team lead with his pin against D3wrestle.com contender Cole Erickson at 157 lbs. No. 3/2 Smith kept things rolling at the 165 lb. weight class earning a 10-2 major decision over Luke Silva. Coe College's Tristan Westphal earned the 4-2 decision over Mommsen making the team score 16-9 in the favor of the Duhawks while No. 8/8 Liegel scored a 13-3 major decision over D3wrestle.com contender Josh Edel. No. 2/2 Patron Jr. got his second pin of the day this time in the first period against No. 1/1 ranked Taylor Mehmen at 197 lbs. and D3wrestle.com honorable mention Wyatt Wriedt finished the dual meet off strong earning a close 2-1 decision over D3wrestle.com No. 7 Kaleb Reeves to put the Duhawks ahead 29-9.
 
The third dual of the day for the Duhawks was against Simpson College and D3wrestle.com contender Randon put Loras on the board first at 125 lbs. with an 11-6 decision over Dylan McChesney. At 133 lbs. Zach Licht put the Duhawks ahead 7-0 with a 14-2 major decision over Josh Bower while McMillen also scored a 17-7 major decision over Sam McCoy at 141 lbs. Parker earned a 14-7 major decision over Mason Kruljac extending the Duhawk team to 14-0. No. 4/2 Murray added six points to the team's total with a pin over Robert Silva in the second period. At 165 lbs. No. 3/2 Smith pinned Salvador Quiroz in the first period while Mommsen pinned Nyan Baker also in the first period at the 174 lb. weight class. Brady Vogel's first match of the day resulted in a 48-second pin over Shane Mathias giving the Duhawks a 38-0 lead. Richard Hunter earned the fifth straight pin of the dual over Sam Mathis at 192 lbs. while Simpson's Colton Kinnison finished the dual with a 7-3 decision over Brody Tupy. The Duhawks won the dual by a final score of 44-3. 
 
In the last dual of the day, the Duhawks defeated Nebraska Wesleyan University 44-12. Duncan McCain put the Duhawks on the board first with a first period pin over Tyler Laudick while D3wrestle.com contender Eron Haynes of Nebraska Wesleyan defeated Licht in a medical forfeit. Zach Thompson scored an 18-3 tech fall victory over Ryan Smales while at 149 lbs. Stevie Lee pinned Brayden Dowding at the 1:26 mark. Nebraska Wesleyan's Zeth Gerkensmeyer won by disqualification over Loras' Matt Connolly making the team score 17-12 Duhawks. At 165 lbs. Baylor Crigger pinned Derek Wortman in 59 seconds while Merrick Purcell also earned a pin in the third period over Riley Schmohr at the 174-pound weight class. Vogel earned himself a pin over Drake Stuhr in the first period. Derek VenTeicher wrestled for the Duhawks at 197 lbs. winning 16-0 by tech fall against Asher Gagnon. D3wrestle.com honorable mention Wriedt pinned D3wrestle.com honorable mention Justin Hennessy at the 2:13 mark to put the Duhawks ahead 44-12. 
 
 The Duhawks will host the Loras College Open on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 9 A.M., before wrestling the University of Dubuque Spartans at home in the Athletic Wellness Center on Feb. 7 at 7 P.M.
