WINONA, MINN. (Feb. 23, 2020) – Wins from Noely Baumann and Mariana Bayona Paez in singles play highlighted the Loras College women's tennis team's (10-3, 7-1 A-R-C) match against St. Mary's University (Minn.) (6-2) on Sunday, but it was not enough as the Duhawks fell 7-2 at the hands of Cardinals.

Baumann took the first set at the No. 5 position with a 6-0 sweep against St. Mary's Emily Strezishar, but the opponent came back to take the next set 6-4 and force the tiebreaker. In a marathon of a set, Baumann outlasted her opponent to take a 13-11 win. At the No. 6 spot, Bayona Paez rallied back against Maddie Dosser after dropping the first set 6-0 to win the second 7-5 and the tiebreaker, 10-8.

Loras has a break before its next match against Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday, March 14. First serves in Racine, Wis. are set to start at noon.
