DE PERE, WIS. (Feb. 7, 2020) – Playing a part in their opponent's history book in the first home match for St. Norbert College, the Loras College men's volleyball team (5-2) scored a 3-0 road win against the Green Knights (1-8) in the first of two matches on the weekend's slate.

Loras jumped ahead early thanks to kills from Jake Filotto and Ian Walsh, paired with stellar serving by David Beach and Filotto to take an 11-4 lead. Max Ellenbecker added a kill and Dorian Fiorenza followed up with a kill and solo block to increase the lead to 16-9. The Duhawks maintained control of the first set as Filotto tallied two more kills and Beach hit the set-winning kill off the hands of Hollander to take the 25-17 win.

The Duhawks once again held control of the lead early in the second set, leading 5-0 and a kill from Walsh as well as a block from Ellenbecker and Hollander put Loras up 13-6. The Green Knights rallied back with four points to cut the lead to three, but Loras took back an eight-point lead off kills from Filotto, Walsh, and Fiorenza and a service ace from Joe Berka. St. Norbert made one last late-set push to overthrow Loras' lead, but the Duhawks closed the second set with a 25-19 win.

St. Norbert took the first lead of the match in the third set, pulling ahead 10-6, but Loras soon found momentum and charged ahead on a 12-1 run with kills from Walsh and Fiorenza and more service aces from Filotto to take an 18-11 lead. The mid-set surge helped give the Duhawks the advantage to hold out the remainder of the set, taking the third by a score of 25-16 for the win.

Walsh had a team-high 15 kills while Filotto was the team's serving leader with five aces. Ellenbecker, Fiorenza and Hollander combined for seven blocks and Ryne Anders came up with 12 digs.

The Duhawks have a quick turnaround with a match just over 12 hours later against Lakeland University in Sheboygan, Wis. on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 10 A.M.
