AUBURNDALE, Fla. (Mar. 11, 2020) – The Loras College baseball team (2-6) secured its second win of the season against Olivet College (3-7) and its first of the Duhawks six-game stint down in Auburndale, Florida by a final score of 3-0 as Erik Edminster picked up his first win of the season on the mound for the Duhawks.

Loras added one run in the top of the first inning as Dakota Church was the first baserunner of the game after being walked before Joe Egan laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt advancing Church to second base. Ryan Wohlers hit an RBI double for the Duhawks scoring Church giving Loras a 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the first inning. In the bottom of the inning, Edminster and the Duhawks made quick work of the Comets as they went three-up-three-down. In the following innings, both teams would get runners on base but neither would add runs on the board until the Duhawks rallied in the top of the fifth as Ryan Gorman got things started with a single. Loras played situational baseball perfectly all game long as Adam Metivier laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt moving Gorman over to second base. Egan hit an RBI single scoring Gorman from second base giving the Duhawks a 2-0 advantage. As the bottom of the seventh inning ended the Comets were still scoreless. The Duhawks would add one more insurance run in the top of the eighth inning on a lead of home run by Luke Fennelly. As the bottom of the ninth came around Tanner Fallon would enter the game for Loras putting out all three batters he faced securing the save and a 3-0 victory over Olivet.

The Duhawks are set to play their second game of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Thursday, March 12 against Juniata College in Auburndale, Fla. at 9:45 A.M. (ET).
