Mar. 18, 2020 – With the spring season postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Loras College football head coach Steve Helminiak and the Duhawks are now gearing up for the upcoming season and have officially released the 2020 football schedule.

The Duhawks open the schedule at home against non-conference opponent St. Norbert College on Sept. 5 before traveling to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire the following week. Loras starts American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) play on Sept. 19, traveling to Indianola, Iowa to face Simpson College before the first home conference game on Sept. 26 against Wartburg College.

"The 2020 season brings about many new challenges that we are learning to navigate and while the season is still a long way away, it cannot come soon enough," said Helminiak. "We are happy to continue playing UW-Eau Claire from the always-competitive WIAC and adding St. Norbert as our other non-con is exciting. The Green Knights come from a Catholic Liberal Arts college with a mission that is very similar to our's.  They have had good success and we are looking forward to the tough test.  Both Eau Claire and St. Norbert should prepare us the A-R-C grind."

The Homecoming game is set for Oct. 10 against the Central College Dutch and the 13th-annual Key City Clash against crosstown rival, the University of Dubuque, will be played in the Rock Bowl on Oct. 31. The Duhawks close out the season on the road at Buena Vista University on Nov. 7 and will honor its senior class in the final home game against Nebraska Wesleyan University on Nov. 14.
"As always in the A-R-C, we need to be prepared each and every week as I anticipate the league to be as competitive as ever," said Helminiak. "As we continue to improve, the expectations among our players and coaches have risen."

The Duhawks finished 2019 with a 5-5 record and graduated 24 seniors. Loras returns quarterback Noah Sigwarth, entering his senior season, alongside wide receiver Mike McDevitt and offensive lineman Garrett Crump. Defensively, cornerback Jack Foley, linebacker Walker Even and defensive lineman Bryce Sinn return for the Duhawks while also welcoming back offensive lineman Drew Blazekovich and running back Elijah Thomas from injury last season.
