Oct. 6, 2021 - The Loras College men's soccer team (6-5-1, 1-2-0 A-R-C) squared off against cross-town rivals the University of Dubuque Spartans (7-3-1, 3-0-0 A-R-C) at the Rock Bowl Wednesday night. Junior defender and Dubuque native
Jared Block highlighted the Duhawks' offense with a goal and an assist on the night.
Block put the Duhawks on the board first in the 8th minute of the game as
Kevin Kucaba set up for a corner kick that found the head of Block that shot past Dubuque goalkeeper Christopher Rastock to put Loras up 1-0 early.
The Spartans scored two of their own in the 26th and 34th minute to go up by one before
Patrick Clancy brought the score back even at 2-2 in the 40th minute as Block rifled a throw-in to the box that Clancy headed on goal to see the score tied at the half.
Dubuque took the lead once more in the 58th minute of the game to take a 3-2 win.
Loras outshot Dubuque 19-13 in the physical game that saw a total of 24 fouls and three yellow cards. Block's first half goal marks his second on the season while his assist on the throw-in comes as his first of the year. Clancy continues to lead the Duhawks in goals scored with eight to his name.
The Duhawks are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 9 as they travel to Pella, Iowa to take on the Central College Dutch. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM.
