DUBUQUE, Iowa (Nov. 6, 2021) - Advancing to the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Tournament Championship with a 3-0 shutout win against the No. 2-seeded Simpson College on Wednesday, the No. 3-seeded Loras College men's soccer team (13-6-2, 5-2-1 A-R-C) headed across town to the University of Dubuque to take on the top-seeded Spartans in a postseason cross-town rivalry matchup. Sophomore forward Reed Miklavcic punched the Duhawks' ticket in the opening minutes of the game to earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament.

Miklavcic scored his fourth goal of the season in the fourth minute of the game as senior midfielder Jose Melo fed Miklavcic a pass that he rifled past Spartan goalkeeper Christoffer Rastock, scoring the game's lone goal and securing the 1-0 victory to advance in postseason play. The victory marks the Duhawks' seventh A-R-C Tournament title in program history and first under second year head coach Steven McCarthy.

The Duhawks commanded the first half of the game, taking ten total shots to Dubuque's three while showing strength defensively in the second half, holding the Spartans scorless on seven second half shots. The Duhawks outshot the Spartans 12-10 in regulation with nine shots reaching net. Senior goalkeeper Connor Fitzpatrick recorded his sixth shutout of the season, turning away all six of the shots on net he faced.

The opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament are set to begin on Saturday, Nov. 13. Opponent and location are yet to be determined at this time.
