Dec. 10, 2021 - After a month of competition on the road, the No. 4 Loras College wrestling team (3-0, 1-0 A-R-C) returned to the Patrick J. Lillis Athletic & Wellness Center for their first home dual of the season against the Rams from Cornell College (1-2, 0-0 Midwest). With four wins by fall and a pair of tech falls, the Duhawks cruised to a dominant 40-6 victory over the Rams to stay undefeated on the year in dual action.

The dual kicked off with an exhibition matchup between Dakoda Powell and Cornell's Drake Fox that saw Powell earn a third period pin to spark the Duhawks' momentum going into the 125 lb. matchup. No. 11 Jared Hensley met up with Cornell's Nathan Bednarczyk in the first match of the night, seeing Hensley make easy work of his opponent, earning six points on a 35-second pin.

Aiden Evans wrestled at 133 lbs. against Evan Husko and collected three points on a 5-0 decision to bring up No. 8 Jalen Scrhopp in the 141 lb. matchup. Schropp earned a shutout tech fall over Grant Harbour to add another five points to the scoreboard for Loras to go up 14-0 heading into the 149 lb. match between No. 7 Daniel Ruiz and Landon Card. Ruiz put another three points up on the board for the Duhawks to widen the lead to 17-0 with an 11-4 decision over card.

Cornell picked up a pair of decision victories at 157 and 165 lbs. but the Duhawks picked right back up at 174 lbs. as No. 3 Jacob Krakow went toe-to-toe with Jacob Scherzer. Just 17 seconds into the third period, Krakow racked up a 15-point lead to earn the Duhawks' second tech fall of the night with a 17-2 win.

Wrestling at 184 lbs. for Loras was No. 1 ranked Shane Liegel, who made quick work of Cornell's Colin Honderd with a pin in 1:21 to add another six points to the Duhawks comfortable lead. No. 15 Colin Murphy wrestled at 197 lbs. for Loras and went up against Treyten Steffen, earning another six points for Loras on a third period pin to bring up No. 7 Wyatt Wriedt in the heavyweight bout. Wriedt closed out the dual in electric fashion with a first period pin over Zachary Finn to secure the Duhawks' third win of the season with a final score of 40-6.

The Duhawks are back in action on Dec. 18 as they travel to Nashville, Tenn. to compete in the Gator Boots Duals.
