Feb. 6, 2021 – The No. 2-ranked Loras College men's track and field team started American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) competition with a plethora of event wins and another nation-leading time by junior
Mike Jasa, resulting in a team victory for the Duhawks at the University of Dubuque Triangular against the Spartans and Simpson College on Saturday.
Josh Smith, the top runner in Division III in the 60-meter dash, won the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.44 seconds and repeated with a win in the 200-meter dash (22.34) to lead the Duhawks as the top-four finishers.
Shamari Scott finished second with a time of 22.95, followed by Jake Willkom in third (23.13) and
Ray Venditti in stride (23.14).
Jasa added to his nation leading marks in the 400-meter dash, winning the event in a new facility record time of 48.95 to rank third in program history and No. 1 on the national list.
Carter Oberfoell finished second in the event with a time of 50.42.
As they did a week prior, the 4-by-400-meter relay team of Smith, Oberfoell, Jasa and Scott capped off the meet with a win, crossing the finish in a time of 3:22.32 and sits second on the national list.
Ryan Rogers added a pair of wins in the 55-meter hurdles (7.76) and pole vault (4.55 meters) as well as a third-place finish in the high jump (1.90 meters).
Derik Bunten won the triple-jump with a leap of 13.02 meters and
Matt Bandy won the high jump, clearing a height of 1.95 meters.
Loras won the meet with 112 points while the host Spartans placed second with 100 points and Simpson scored 72 points.
Loras continues A-R-C action on Saturday, Feb. 13 at Luther College, competing against the Norse and Coe College. Events begin at 10 A.M. in Decorah, Iowa.Â
