DUBUQUE, Iowa – Former Loras College men's track and field standout Kyle Calvert will be inducted into the Loras College Athletics Hall of Fame as a part of the Class of 2026. He will be honored alongside four other inductees during the ceremony on Friday, Oct. 9 inside the Alumni Campus Center ballroom.
"I am incredibly grateful to the committee for this honor, and to my family, friends, coaches, and teammates who supported and challenged me throughout my time at Loras." Calvert said. "I am especially grateful to Coach Hefel and to my sister and teammate, Whitney Calvert, who helped me become the best athlete, teammate, and student I could be. To be recognized alongside such a distinguished group of Hall of Famers is an incredible honor, and I see this recognition as a reflection of the many people who made my Loras experience so meaningful."
Calvert, a five-time All-American, made his presence known during his time as a Duhawk.
The 2008 NCAA Division III Indoor Men's Field Athlete of the Year (Central Division) finished his career with multiple conference championships in the pole vault. He finished as a three-time IIAC indoor conference champion and a two-time outdoor conference champion. He tallied eight, third, and third place finishes at indoor nationals, and placed seventh and second place at outdoor nationals.
Calvert still holds the school record in indoor pole vault with a mark of 5.20m, which is also the American Rivers Conference indoor record. He also holds the school record for outdoor pole vault with a mark of 5.19m.
Kyle has continued to find meaningful ways to stay connected to athletics and his passion for pole vaulting. He now coaches the event for the Bloomington High School North track team, passing along the technical precision and mental discipline the sport demands to a new generation of athletes. Through coaching, he has had the opportunity to share the sport that played such an important role in his own life with a new generation of athletes.
Calvert currently lives in Bloomington, Indiana, with his wife, Amanda Pilgrim, and their two children, Adaline and Edwin. He serves as the Lead Creative Specialist for the IU Cinema at Indiana University, where he brings his passion for design and visual storytelling to the university community. He also maintains a small independent design practice and, alongside his wife, runs a candle and home fragrance studio, Juniper and Jade Co.
