Mar. 30, 2021 - On a night that felt like a typical fall evening at the Rock Bowl, the Loras College women's soccer team (2-0-0, 2-0-0 A-R-C) played host to the Luther College Norse (0-1-0, 0-1-0 A-R-C) in their second American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) matchup in three days. A late goal in the second half from junior forward
Emily Perhats gave the Duhawks a 2-1 victory over the Norse for their second straight win of the season.
The Norse struck first in the third minute of the match on a throw in from Maggie Haller that found the foot of Megan Munger in the box to put one on the board to take the lead early.
Caitlin Farrell responded for the Duhawks in the 21st minute of the match as she intercepted a bad pass from the Norse, rifling a shot past goalkeeper Kennedy Bergren as she was falling down to tie the score at 1-1 where it stayed at the end of the half.
After thirty five minutes of action in the second half and the score still at an even 1-1,
Payton McDonnell lined up in the corner looking to capitalize on a set piece and give the Duhawks the lead with ten minutes remaining. McDonnell put a perfect ball on the head of Perhats who found the back of the net in the 81st minute to push the Duhawks past the Norse with a final score of 2-1.
The Duhawks pummeled Bergren in the net, putting 16 shots on net, outshooting the Norse 23-7 in the match.
Abby Eriksen accounted for five of those shots, putting four on net while
Brynn Jacobi and Perhats each put three shots on goal for Loras. Farrell and Perhats had the Duhawks' two goals while McDonnell notched an assist on the night. Goalkeeper
Kyndal Kells had a light night in net for Loras, only seeing four shots on goal, saving three of those shots she faced.
Loras is due to face the Central College Dutch on Saturday, Apr. 3 in their third straight match at home. The match is scheduled to kick off at 1:00 PM at the Rock Bowl.
