Men's Track and Field Excels at Easter Midweek Meet

Apr. 1, 2021 – The Loras College men's track and field team showcased its depth across multiple events on Thursday at the Duhawks' Easter Midweek Meet on their home track, setting three of the program's top-ten marks and seeing four performances rank top-ten in Division III.

Mike Jasa led the one-two finish for the Duhawks in the 400-meter dash, winning the race with a time of 48.60 seconds to rank seventh on Loras' all-time list. Carter Oberfoell finished second with a time of 49.26. Freshman Chris Guise posted a runner-up finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.34 and Ryan Harvey led the Duhawks across the line in the 1,500-meter run, just shy of a spot on the top-ten list with a time of 3:56.83. Wyatt Kelly added a second-place finish in the event with a time of 3:57.20 and Josh Smith finished third in the 200-meter dash (22.48 seconds). Ryan Rogers won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.06 seconds and Shamari Scott finished second in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 55.38 seconds while the 4-by-100-meter relay team of Dayvion Foreman, Jake Willkomm, Scott and Smith finished second in with a time of 42.28 seconds. The 4-by-400-meter relay team of Conor Otting, Ted Kruse, Jasa and Oberfoell finished second with a time of 3:16.53.

In the field events, Alex Martens tied for second in the high jump, clearing 1.85 meters and Rogers posted two more wins in the pole vault at 4.47 meters, ranking eighth in program history as well as eighth all-time in the long jump with his winning jump of 6.98 meters which also ranks him fifth nationally. Zac Couture also posted a third-place finish the discus, throwing 42.32 meters.

The Duhawks will head to Wartburg College on Saturday, Apr. 10 to compete at the Wartburg Outdoor Select meet. Field events begin at 11 A.M. in Waverly and running events kick off at noon.
