May 2, 2021 - The Loras College softball team (2-23, 2-19 A-R-C) rounded out a busy weekend at Faber-Clark Field on Sunday as they faced the No. 15 Wartburg College Knights in the final game of the three-game season series.
Abigail Bergholz highlighted the Duhawks offense going a perfect 2-2 at the plate with a double to her name, but the Knights prevailed to take the series.
The Knights posed a balanced attack at the plate, putting up nine runs in the first four innings of the game as a steady breeze to the outfield helped carry three hard hit balls over the fence.
Three Duhawks recorded hits in the game with
Abigail Bergholz notching two with a double while Hadalynn Anderson and Sara Vandermause each added one apiece.
Head coach
Ashley Winter utilized three pitchers in the game with
Nicole Bendig celebrating her birthday with a start in the circle, throwing 1.1 innings before
Taylor Donnell came in at relief. Donnell threw 2.0 innings, facing 11 batters before freshman
Kayla Stich closed the game out for the Duhawks, allowing no runs on just one hit in six batters faced.
The Duhawks are back in action on Thursday, May 6 as they travel to Decorah, Iowa to face the Luther College Norse in an American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) matchup. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
