ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (May 20, 2021) – The No. 9-ranked Loras College men's track and field team rose to the occasion at the Augustana College Twilight Last Chance Meet on Thursday, seeing new personal-bests and more NCAA Division III National Championship marks in the final competition ahead of the championship.
Fifth-year senior
Shamari Scott put himself into the top-ten nationally for the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best performance of 53.14 to win the event and rank eighth in Division III as well as fifth on Loras' all-time list. Competing in his first last chance invitational, freshman
Ryan Harvey delivered the third-fastest 1,500-meter time in program history (3:50.00), putting him sixth in Division III and finishing second in the event. In the 4-by-100-meter relay,
De'Andre Klein,
Dayvion Foreman,
Jake Willkomm and
Josh Smith improved on standing as the third-fastest relay in program history and moved up to 14th nationally with a time of 41.48, finishing third. The 4-by-400-meter-relay team of Scott, Willkomm,
Carter Oberfoell and
Mike Jasa improved on their third-ranked time on the national list, running 3:12.04 to place second in the event.
The Duhawks also celebrated milestone performances with
Ryan Rogers adding a personal best in the 400-meter dash (50.47) and
Holden Murphy improving on his sixth-best all-time throw in the discus (47.79 meters).Â
The Duhawks now await the release of the final qualifying list for the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championship on May 27-29 in Greensboro, N.C.
